Antimicrobial Peptides

Defensin peptides are essential members of host-defense antimicrobial peptides. These cationic peptides are originally produced by vertebrates, insects and higher plants. Host defense peptides are involved in the protection against different kind of pathogens like bacteria, fungi and several viruses and play an important role in inflammation and wound repair. Antitumor activity of dedicated antimicrobial peptides is described in combination with non-immunogenic tumor antigens.
The human defensin group is composed of two subclasses: Peptanova offers six different alpha-Defensin peptides (HNP; HD) and four beta-Defensin peptides (hBD), which are characterized by their distinct arrangement of three disulfide bonds.

The antimicrobial peptide LL-37, which is derived from the C-terminus of the human cathelicidin and Dermcidin-1L human (DCD-1L) are available as new members of this group of antimicrobial active peptides ( LEAP- Hepcidin ).

Elafin (Human) , cysteine rich peptide composed of 57 amino acid residues. Elastase specific inhibitor with potent antimicrobial and antiproteolytic activities.

New, available since February 2013: Catestatin (Human) | Chromogranin A (Human, 352-372) Antimicrobial Peptide / Regulator of Blood Pressure / Cardiac Function

New, available since March 2012: AMP-IBP5 (Human) | Insulin-Like Growth Factor-Binding Protein 5 (Human, 193-214 Amide)

All offered antimicrobial peptides are of synthetic origin and not isolated from bioplogical sources or made by biotechnical procedures. Defensin peptides and Cathelicidin Antimicrobial Peptide LL-37 are usually available from our stock in Germany within short time.

In addition to this group of host defense peptides, PeptaNova offers the two Liver Expressed Antimicrobial Peptides (LEAP-1 and LEAP-1), which will be found in a separate chapter.

Antimicrobial peptides manufactured by Peptide Institute Inc, Osaka Japan will be shipped at room temperature to our customers in Europe. These conditions are tested for years and will not have any negative influence on the quality of the peptides.
All biologically active peptides are manufactured and certified for laboratory use only. Not for drug use! Our biologically active peptides / antimicrobial peptides are not diagnostics according to the “Medizin Produkte Gesetz”.
