Inhibitor of P2X3 Purinoreceptors
Purotoxin-1, is composed of 35 amino acid residues with 4 disulfide bonds and was originally isolated from the venom of the Wolf Spider.
P2X3 purinoreceptors are one component participating in pain signaling. The peptide reduced capsaicin-induced nociception in rat at low doses. Purotoxin-1 may helpful for the development of novel antinociceptive drugs.
