Selective Blocker for Acid-Sensitive Ion Channel, ASIC1a
Psalmotoxin 1 (PcTX1), a peptide toxin composed of 40 amino acid residues was originally isolated from the venom of the West Indies tarantula Psalmopoeus cambridgei. It inhibits cation currents mediated by acid-sensing ion channels (ASIC). Psalmotoxin 1 shows high analgesic properties in mice and rat models.
