Big Endothelin-1 (1-31) is an endogenous form of Endothelin-1. The 31 mer oligopeptide is generated by chymase hydolysation from its precursor. This conversation process can be blocked with Phosphoramidon, which is a potent endothelin-converting-enzyme inhibitor. The conversation from Big Endothelin-1 (1-31) into Endothelin 1 will not be effected.
The biological activity of Big Endothelin-1 (1 – 31) is examined by the Division of Pharmacology, Peptide Institute, Inc.
