Des-Octanoylated Ghrelin with Distinct Effect on Food Intake
The fatty acid acylation of ghrelin seems to be essential for the strong GH-releasing activity. The Non-acylated form Des-n-Octanoyl Ghrelin does not bind to the ghrelin receptor and did not induce growth hormone release. Des-Acyl Ghrelin shows inotropic effects in papillary muscle and cardioprotective activity.
